TRI-CITIES, WASH. – Lifelong community member, and local business woman, April Connors announced she will run for the open seat in the State House of Representatives for the 8th District, as a Republican. Three term State Representative Matt Boehnke recently announced he will not run for reelection, and instead run for the open seat in the State Senate.
Connors has been an active member of our community, running a successful real estate practice, and volunteering with local schools, arts organizations, and the Kadlec Foundation Board. April’s husband Mike Connors, along with other family members, owns Skone and Connors family farm, a local agri-business that’s been an area employer for three generations, growing potatoes, onions, and apples.
“April Connors is the right woman to represent our community in Olympia,” said recently elected Kennewick City Council member Dr. Loren Anderson, “she works hard, works smart, and she shares our community’s values.”
Newly elected Kennewick City Council member Gretl Crawford praised April, saying, “I trust April Connors to do the right thing in Olympia. She has the courage we need in our newest State Representative.”
April and her husband Mike have four children. Katy, 19, is a sophomore at UW. Darline, 17, is a senior at Southridge High School. Maya, 15, is a sophomore at Southridge. Jack, 15 is a freshman at Southridge. The family enjoys bicycling, youth sports, competitive shooting, and hiking local trails. Mike was recently elected president of the Kennewick School Board.
